Law Firm Profits With Contract Attorneys

A top 10 Atlanta law firm was representing a large national broker-dealer in hundreds of fraud cases. Unfortunately, the firm did not have enough skilled attorneys to handle the entire workload in a timely manner. Without the right resources, the client would suffer substantial losses.

The firm asked Cambridge for help with hiring additional resources for the work. Cambridge quickly identified 10 contract attorneys who had the knowledge and experience required. Some of the cases went to arbitration and many were held out of state. Cambridge located local attorneys for those proceedings as well.

The contract attorneys handled document review, financial analysis and first drafts of pleadings. They filled many roles from case managers to document reviewers and did much of the substantive discovery work.

Cambridge’s hourly rates for these attorneys ranged from $45 to $75 per hour. The law firm then billed its client for the contractors’ services at a considerably higher rate, which proved to be a profitable way to extend the firm’s services.

The quality of the work was rated “excellent” as well. After a year and a half, some of the contract attorneys were still working with the client.
